What We Learned in the Month of September:
Over the past few weeks, the children have become comfortable with one another and are eagerly taking part in class. This first month focuses on adjusting and settling everyone into the classroom routines and getting to know one another. As we end September and step into October, we've begun October with apples! We've made applesauce and apple cookies, where kids helped by peeling, slicing, and dicing apples. In addition to baking with apples, we have read about apples and included apple pie baking in our dramatic play center. We've also created various artworks, including collage apples, sponge-painted apple trees, and paper apples. We've also been lucky to welcome Moses's grandmother, Beverly Falk, into our classroom for a sing-along! Beverly Falk is a Professor and Director Emerita of the Graduate Programs in Early Childhood Education, School of Education at the City College of New York, as well as a former director of our school, so it's wonderful to have her back!
We look forward to an exciting October with your children!
Margaret, Maggie & Masuma
